From the streets of Capital Heights, Maryland to the rural setting of Loudonville, New York… Co-Captain of Siena Saints Kenny Hasbrouck is of the most accomplished players in Siena Saints history. The quick shooting guard for the Siena Saints was born in Capital Heights, Maryland, a town that just borders our nation’s capital of Washington D.C. During Kenny’s senior year of High School he attended the Maine Central Institute. It is here where Kenny developed himself into one of the best basketball players in the area, and where he was discovered by current Siena Saints coach Fran McCaffery. Being Coach McCaffery’s first recruit, there was a lot of pressure but on Kenny during his Freshman year as not only did he have to play for his own reputation, but he also had an ounce of Coach McCaffery’s reputation on the line.

During Kenny’s freshman year at Siena College he was named the MAAC Rookie of the Year and was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week a Siena record eight times. Kenny that year led all freshman in the Metro Atlantic Conference with 12.4 points per game and he started every single game for the Saints.

Sophomore year for Kenny really got the ball rolling as the hype for this players skills was really near its peak. Kenny was named a Preseason Second Team MAAC All-American and by the end of the season he lived up to the title and was put on the Second Team MAAC All-American. “Kenny finished second on the team with 16.0 points per game and reached double figures in 27 of 32 games” (Siena Saints Team Website). The Saints once again failed to win the MAAC Championship, but as the next year was coming along things were looking up for the Saints.

Junior year was Kenny’s best yet as was ascended onto the Preseason in end of season MAAC First Team All American squad but he was also put on the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major All-American list with players on some of the best Mid-Major school’s in the country. By the far the biggest accomplishment of the season was Kenny’s performance during the postseason MAAC and NCAA tournaments. As Kenny led the Saints to a MAAC Championship and was even named the MAAC Tournament Most Valuable Player. During that season in the NCAA Tournament, the Saints were put at a thirteen seed and were put against the SEC power house, Vanderbilt. In one of the biggest upsets of the tournament the Saints defeated the Commodores and moved to the second round where they would eventually lose to the Villanova Wildcats. During the game with Vanderbilt Kenny scored a game-high 30 points as he was being looked upon as one of the Mid-Major stars in the country.

Senior year was Kenny’s best year of his college career. At the end of the season he was the incipient of MAAC Player of the Year, and once again led the Saints to the NCAA Tournament where they were put as an eight seed and upset the nine seed in the Ohio State Buckeyes in the first round of the NCAA tournament. The Saints would eventually lose in a great effort against the number one overall seed in the tournament, with the Louisville Cardinals.

Kenny’s accomplishments could go on and on. As he is one of four saints to be apart of the 1,000 point club. Despite his quickness and agility one Kenny’s most valuable characteristics is the way he plays Basketball. He plays the game like it should be played with a great IQ of the game. He always has a smile on his face and he hustles up and down the court on offense and defense.
