Senior forward leads Wisconsin with 19.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game

MADISON, Wis. – The national recognition continues to pour in for Wisconsin senior forward Jon Leuer.

Already on the Wooden Midseason Top-30 and one of 10 finalists for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award, Leuer has been named one of 30 players on the midseason list for the Naismith Trophy, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced on Friday.

The midseason 30 list was compiled by the Atlanta Tipoff Club’s Board of Selectors, which based its criteria on player performances for the 2010-11 college basketball season. The Naismith Trophy will be awarded at the 2011 NCAA Men’s Final Four in Houston.

Leuer currently leads Wisconsin in both scoring and rebounding with 19.4 points and 7.4 boards per contest. Those figures rank third and fifth, respectively, in the Big Ten.

Twice this season Leuer has been named the Big Ten Player of the Week. He has scored 20 points or more in 10 games this season and is currently riding a streak of 30 consecutive games scoring in double figures.

The Naismith Award has become the most prestigious award in all of college basketball, recognizing the Men’s and Women’s College Basketball Player of the Year, Men’s and Women’s College Basketball Coach of the Year, as well as awards for outstanding achievement in high school basketball, officiating and contribution to the game.
