There’s just something about those Kohl Center rims that brings out the best in Wisconsin’s shooters.
The No. 10 Badgers (20-6, 10-4 Big Ten) shot 8-for-15 from 3-point range, including 5-for-5 from Keaton Nankivil, and beat Penn State (14-12, 7-8) 76-66 at the Kohl Center Sunday. The Badgers never trailed in the game and were never really threatened. Their margin of victory would have been even bigger had Lions coach Ed DeChellis not prolonged the game by having his players foul in the final minutes.
The Badgers took advantage of a surprisingly slow-footed Lions defense early and often. As they so often do, the Badgers made it clear they were going to run their offense primarily through Jon Leuer, who scored the games first basket and had six points in the games first five minutes. Wisconsin scored on seven of their first eight possessions and DeChellis saw his team fall into a 20-10 hole after only nine minutes.
