Found January 22, 2013 on Louisville Card Game:
Chattanooga-louisville
Inevitable letdown after losing to a top five team. That and a lack of respect from a University of Louisville basketball team for a mediocre-but-fired-up Villanova. Did their fans really rush the court after the game? Rick Pitino, disposing of his tie the second half against Syracuse, staying all buttoned up in his double breasted suit all game long. What’s up with that, coach? Seriously. UofL’s two minute offense these days, especially when trailing, will consist of Peyton Siva dribbling down the lane, throwing a pass between defenders to either Chane Behanan or Gorgui Dieng, usually too far under the basket. The recipient will bobble the ball, attempt to get into position, and get the ball swatted away.  Like clockwork the past two games. Too predictable again. MORE TO COME

Rick Pitino on Louisville loss: We shot free throws like Shaq and Dwight Howard

Louisville lost its second straight tough game in a row on Tuesday night, this time at the hands of Villanova. Over the weekend, the Cardinals lost a tough home game to No. 6-ranked Syracuse. However, the Wildcats are a team they should have beaten. Had they been more successful from the charity stripe, Rick Pitino’s team may have come away with a win. Louisville hit only 12...

An NBA Scout’s Take On Russ Smith

As you could expect, there were multiple NBA scouts in attendance on Saturday at the KFC Yum Center for the Louisville – Syracuse match-up. One of the veteran NBA scouts spoke with Adam Zagoria of SNY.TV following the game. Here is his evaluation of Russ Smith’s performance. **Russ Smith, Louisville (25 points, 4 steals) Scout’s take:  ”Russ Smith is shooting up the charts...

Manti Te’o's Fake Girlfriend Tried To Contact Peyton Siva On Twitter

Deadspin.com is the website that broke the entire Manti Te’o fake girlfriend hoax last week, which has become the biggest story of 2013. One of DeadSpin’s most recent articles on the Te’o situation looked back at all of the Tweets from the fake Lennay Kekua Twitter account. It turns out the fake account had contacted Peyton Siva following Louisville’s second round win 18...

Cards all business preparing for Villanova

After a 70-68 loss to Syracuse on Saturday, University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino met with the media on Monday to talk about the Cardinals’ game on Tuesday at Villanova. Pitino had plenty to say about the Wildcats, the loss to the Orangemen and his team’s progress. Cardinal Authority was there.

Villanova 73 – Louisville 64: Cards Drop Two In A Row

I didn’t expect Louisville to run the table in Big East play this season, but I certainly didn’t expect to see them play like they did tonight.  It’s still January and the Cards have only three losses on the season, but what we saw tonight is slightly concerning. A week ago I was asking if this team had any real weaknesses. That question was answered tonight. Mental toughness...

Louisville extends Strong's contract

Charlie Strong has the long-term commitment he wanted from Louisville. The Cardinals coach and the university agreed on an eight-year contract extension Wednesday that will pay Strong an annual base salary of $3.7 million, plus incentives worth at least $583,333 for reaching the BCS Championship Game. Strong's third season with Louisville ended with a 33-23 upset of Florida...

Suspensions lifted for Dubose, Gaines, Pike and Hogan

They’re back. During an interview with ESPN blogger Andrea Adelson last week, University of Louisville offensive coordinator Shawn Watson mentioned the possibility of Zeke Pike playing tight end during the upcoming season. News to most of us. Pike, along with B. J. Dubose, Charles Gaines and Kamal Hogan, were suspended for disciplinary reasons shortly after the Cincinnati game...

Charlie Strong Nets a Huge Raise

In return for Charlie Strong and the Louisville Cardinals dismantling the Florida Gators 33-23 in the 2013 All-State Sugar Bowl, the university is rewarding the head coach handsomely. The school agreed to a long-term contract with Strong that makes him one of the highest paid D1 football coaches in the nation. While there has been a whirlwind of coaches being fired as of late, Strong...

The Rundown: Villanova

Rick Pitino and the Louisville Cardinal will look to bounce back tonight from their 70-68 home loss to Syracuse over the weekend as they take on the Villanova Wildcats on the road. As Rick Pitino mentioned at his press conference yesterday, this isn’t the Nova team that we’re used to seeing. Jay Wright’s team is 11-7 overall and 2-3 in Big East play. Nova had won seven straight...

Charlie Strong receives new 8 year deal

Louisville head coach Charlie Strong and UofL have finally agreed upon, and approved, a new eight year deal worth a reported $3.7 million per year. According to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy, Strong is now the seventh highest paid coach in college football. Not bad for a guy who couldn’t get a head coaching job for nearly thirty years. Charlie Strong’s having a heck of a couple weeks.

Strong, U of L agree on $3.7 million deal

The University of Louisville and head football coach Charlie Strong have reached an agreement on a new contract. Strong, who just completed his third season at the school, now has a new eight-year deal that will guarantee the coach $3.7 million per year through the 2020 season. Cardinal Authority has the latest.

Rick Pitino Compares His Players to Shaquille O'Neal and Dwight Howard

The #5 ranked Louisville Cardinals lost to Villanova last night 73-64.  The Cardinals shot exactly 50% from the free throw line going 12 of 24, while Nova shot 75%.  Louisville coach Rick Pitino blamed the loss to un-ranked Villanova on the poor free throw shooting, and called out two of the NBA's best centers ever at the same time.  “It was really a simple answer to...
