Alex Kirk had 15 points and nine rebounds, and No. 14 New Mexico clinched the Mountain West Conference regular season title with a 53-42 victory over Wyoming on Saturday.
The Lobos (25-4, 12-2 MWC) went 21 for 27 from the free throw line in winning or sharing the title for the fifth time in the last six seasons. Cameron Bairstow contributed 13 points and nine rebounds, and Kendall Williams had six assists for the Lobos.
Riley Grabau scored 14 points for the Cowboys (18-11, 4-11).
New Mexico closed the first half on a 13-6 run after Kendall Williams picked off a pass deep in the Wyoming end and turned it into a dunk just before the buzzer for a 25-19 lead.
Wyoming went 3 for 7 from the free-throw line. The Cowboys didn't make their first free throws until six minutes remained.
New Mexico went almost nine minutes without a basket in the second half, but went 7 for 9 from the line in the midst of a 13-3 run that pushed the lead to 46-34 with 4 minutes left.
