Rick Pitino got his 300th win at Louisville tonight as the Cardinal cruised past Cincinnati 67-51. Louisville has now won six in a row and nine of their last ten. They move to 25-5 overall and 13-4 in league play. While Louisville’s offense continues to improve, it was their defense that made the different tonight. The Cardinals forced Cincinnati into a season high 21 turnovers. Louisville collected 12-steals and had more than 30-points in the paint. Some hot shooting from Cincinnati’s Cashmere Wright kept it close in the second half. The lead was at9 before Kevin Ware’s steal that led to a breakaway dunk. Louisville had a 23-4 run late in the second half. Russ Smith led the way for Louisville, finishing with 18-points. Peyton Siva and Gorgui Dieng each chipped in with eleven. Peyton Siva’s performance in the first half was as good as he’s played in quite some time. Foul trouble limited his production in the second half. Gorgui Dieng was solid throughout.
