It was a tale of two halves for the Cards tonight. What started as a sloppy and sluggish performance, ended in a twenty point win for Louisville. The Cards led by just two points at halftime, but outscored Rutgers 40-22 in the second half, cruising to a 68-48 win. Wayne Blackshear led all scorers with 18-points, connecting on 3-of-5 three point attempts. He scored seven of Louisville’s first nine points. When he is a consistent scoring option, Louisville is a much more dynamic team offensively. Russ Smith was just 3-of-11 from the field, but did finish with 14-points and had one of the best dunks of the season for Louisville. Peyton Siva had a quiet, but effective night. He finished with 9 points, 7 assists and just one turnover. Gorgui Dieng wasn’t a big factor on the offensive end, but blocked 7 shots and grabbed 8 rebounds.
