The Cardinal Connect:
Louisville got off to a very slow start on Wednesday night at DePaul, falling behind 8-0 within the first couple of minutes. Louisville stormed back scoring nine unanswered points and never looked back.
There is no denying how sloppy Louisville looked at times, but 42-points in the paint and 23-points off of turnovers helped the Cards cruise to a 79-58 win over DePaul. Louisville moves to 23-5 overall and 11-4 in Big East play.
18-total turnovers against a team like DePaul is a little excessive, but overall, Louisville’s offense continued to show improvement. The Cardinals are averaging 78.6 points in their last six games.
Louisville had five players in double figures, with Russ Smith leading the way. Smith finished with 17 points and entered Louisville’s prestigious 1,000 point club. Peyton Siva had some unforced turnovers early on, but settled in nicely down the stretch. He finished with 16 points, six assists and four rebounds. Montrezl Harrel chipped in with 11-points, while Cha...

THROW IT DOWN
Could this dunk by Louisville Cardinals sophomore Chane Behanan go down as the best dunk of the college basketball season?Leading 21-16 with just under five minutes to go in the first half, Behanan intercepts an errant pass around midcourt, takes a couple of dribbles, and proceeds to go full speed at the rim. The only thing standing in his way is Blue Demons senior Worrel Clahar...
Louisville junior guard Russ Smith has been named as one of thirty finalists for the 2013 John Wooden Award. The top 30 candidates were selected by the Atlanta Tipoff Club’s Board of Selectors, which based its criteria on player performances to this point in the 2013 men’s college basketball season. In late March, the Naismith Trophy voting academy will narrow down the list...
With the end of the college basketball regular season quickly approaching, multiple Louisville Cardinals are approaching school records and career milestones.
Russ Smith is now just 15-points away from reaching Louisville 1,000th point club. He currently has 985 for his career. Smith has made 146 free throws on the season. The current school record for most free throws made in a...
With Louisville hitting the road on Tuesday to take on DePaul, Rick Pitino held his weekly radio show on Monday evening. It was a pretty standard broadcast from Coach Pitino and the voice of the Cardinals, Paul Rogers.
When taking questions from the audience, one fan asked Pitino why Wayne Blackshear and Luke Hancock both appear to play better when coming off of the bench. Without...
Remains to be seen whether Rick Pitino will be elected to the Naismith Hall of Fame this year.
But his University of Louisville basketball team will be among eight teams participating in the pre-season Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament at Uncasville, Conn. next season.
The field will also include North Carolina, Richmond, Fairfield, Belmont, Hofstra, Holy...
As diehards of this site (Mom? Are you there?) already know, The Hoops Manifesto runs a College Dunk of the Year Tournament every spring. Our next nominee for the 2012/13 edition is Louisville's Chane Behanan with this vicious cram.
Big up: SLAM
Hold on to your seats Louisville Cardinals fans, adidas has unvieled their funky, sleeved camo uniforms that the Cards will sport during March Madness.
Imagine dropping one of the best dunks of your life on ESPNU and some punk ref calls you for an offensive foul. Imagine that your knee is eye level with the dude taking the charge.
You know what sucks about college basketball these days? Offensive fouls. Specifically charges. The good news last night during Louisville’s 79-58 win over DePaul is that the refs changed this to a...
Former Louisville cornerback Adrian Bushell participated at Tuesday’s NFL Draft Combine. Bushell is the only former Cardinal that received an invite to the 2013 combine.
Although his combine results might not have shown it, Bushell has been attracting attention from multiple NFL teams and is currently being projected as a mid-round draft pick.
Bushell’s Combine Results:
The 10th ranked Louisville Cardinals squad won their fourth straight with a 79-58 victory over the Blue Demons at Allstate Arena on Wednesday night.
Measuring in at 5-foot-9, 186 pounds, he may be listed "small" by scouts, but there's no question Adrian Bushell plays big. He's certainly thinking big in Indianapolis this week for the NFL Scouting Combine. The Louisville cornerback (formerly of the University of Florida out of Texas product house DeSoto High) was quick to credit Coach Charlie Strong in helping...
Fresh off a visit with Louisville 2014 running back Andre Stoddard of St. Joseph's HS sat down with SCPrepNation.com to tell us all about his visit with Coach Charlie Strong and his staff. Score: No. 10 Louisville 79, DePaul 58
Star(s): Louisville: Russ Smith 17 Pts, 4 Reb, 6 Ast. (also joined the 1,000 point club tonight)
Story: Either DePaul entered its home game hot or Louisville came out bitterly cold, but the Blue Demons started out the half up 8-0. After the Cards finally warmed up and got on the board, they made a 10-0 run of their own.
After seven U of L...
MADISON, Wis. Four months ago, Jared Berggren didn't even make a list of one online media outlet's top 50 big men in college basketball. Considering how far below the radar he has flown, his latest accomplishment is especially noteworthy.
Berggren, Wisconsin's senior forward, has been selected as one of 30 finalists for the 2013 Naismith Award, the Atlanta Tipoff Club...
Louisville isn't approaching Saturday's game at No. 12 Syracuse feeling nostalgic or sentimental about its final Big East matchup against the Orange.
Revenge isn't even the primary motivation for the No. 10 Cardinals, whose agenda is winning out and making a run at the conference tournament title. They've won four in a row and their hopes are riding on the improved...
