There has been some talk in recent weeks about Louisville head basketball coach Rick Pitino receiving a control extension. That process to a step in the right direction this afternoon as the University of Louisville athletic association’s personnel committee met to discuss the matter. Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich has been given authorization from the committee to extend Pitino’s contact. At this point, Pitino hasn’t signed an extension, but now Jurich has been given the go ahead to get the ball rolling. The personnel committee authorized Jurich to extend Pitino’s contract through June 30, 2022. The full athletic association board will meet tomorrow at noon, followed by a press conference from Rick Pitino.
