Since joining the Big East in 2005, Rick Pitino and the Louisville Cardinals have won more league games than any other team in the conference. Louisville has an overall record of 78-37 in regular season games putting them one ahead of Pittsburgh (77-36). I realize with a program like Louisville, Sweet 16’s and Elite 8’s don’t mean a whole lot. This is a fan base that prides themselves on Final Four’s and National Championships. The Cards regular season success over the past 6 years hasn’t meant a whole lot considering they haven’t been able to reach a Final Four. With that being said, let’s not forget how great this program is. With the win over UConn on Monday, Louisville reached the 1,650 milestone in all-time wins. The Cardinals have won 1650 games in 98 seasons of intercollegiate basketball.
