Dennis Tinnon scored 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Marshall pulled away in the second half to beat District of Columbia 80-58 Friday in the 2K Sports Classic. Trailing 50-48 with 13:27 remaining in the second half, two Chris Martin jump shots and dunks by Elijah Pittman and Tinnon helped spark Marshall (2-1) on a 32-8 run to close out the game. After bettering Marshall in the first half to shoot 46.7 percent (14 of 30), District of Columbia (1-2) shot just 25 percent (7 of 28) in the second half to blow a 37-36 halftime lead. DeAndre Kane added 16 points, nine assists and five rebounds for the Thundering Herd. Elijah Pittman recorded 14 points while not missing a single shot, hitting 5 for 5 from the field, including a 3-pointer, and 3 for 3 from the line. Quasim Jones led the Firebirds with 12 points.

Anderson to Sign Friday

Kevin Anderson verbally committed to Doc Holliday and Marshall University this past July. He has remained fully committed to the Herd throughout the process. He recently took his official visit to the Huntington, West Virginia campus.
