The Arena Pulse PS:
Jalen Kendrick/scout.comBy Paul Seaver (TheArenaPulse) Second-year head coach Josh Pastner brought in one of the top recruiting class in the nation from the class of 2010 and has his Memphis squad among the Top 25 in the nation heading into the season.
However, not all is good for the team as the news has emerged that freshman guard Jelan Kendrick has been suspended from the team indefinitely.
Pastner has suspended Kendrick from practices, although he currently remains enrolled at the university, for making verbal threats to a teammate.
According to reports, Kendrick has been in multiple altercations with teammates since arriving on campus and for such a young talent this has to seem quite disappointing.
One of the first altercations Kendrick was involved in forced Pastner to suspend and prevent the freshman guard from joining the team's preseason trip to the Bahamas.
Kendrick's recent issue was deemed serious enough to alert school officials and although the details of the situation have not fully been determined, the decision to remove Kendrick from practices and team activities has been decided.
According to reports, Pastner declined to comment, but has voiced that the situation is a "personal matter and [Kelan] will return when the matter is resolved."
Including the now-suspended and former McDonald's All-American, Pastner's roster featured a talented, 8-man freshman class. Fellow McDonald's All-American Joe Jackson is expected to contribute right away, along with one of the more talented freshman in the nation, Will Barton. Barton was deemed academically ineligible, but has since been cleared to play for the Tigers.
Kendrick, a 6-foot-5 guard out of Marietta, Georgia was rated as the No. 15 prospect in the class by Rivals.com, No. 20 by Scout.com, and No. 44 by ESPNU.
