Robert Nyakundi scored 18 points to lead SMU to a season-opening 78-49 victory over McMurry Friday night.
Nyakundi also had a team-high eight rebounds for the Mustangs. London Giles had 12 points and Jalen Jones scored 11 for SMU. The Mustangs led 43-27 at halftime and made 13 of 31 tries from 3-point range in the game.

The Baylor equestrian Hunter Seat team will host the SMU Mustangs Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the Willis Family Equestrian Center.

The SMU football team lost a 24-17 contest to Navy Saturday at Gerald J. Ford Stadium. Zach Line rushed for 135 yards on 24 carries in the loss for the Mustangs. A complete recap will be online soon.
