After a phenomenal year of basketball and the decision to stay for his senior year, MSU forward Adreian Payne is one of the 29 players and one of seven from the Big Ten that have been invited to try out for the USA Basketball World University Team.
Also representing the Big Ten are A.J. Hammons of Purdue, Yogi Ferrell and Will Sheehay of Indiana, Andrea Hollins of Minnesota, and Rob Devyn Marble and Aaron White of Iowa.
Payne, who averaged 10.5 points and 7.6 rebounds during his junior season, will be coached under Bob McKillop of Davidson and rival coach John Beilein of Michigan, if he makes the team.
Tryouts will be held June 24-30 in Colorado Springs, CO, in which only 12 will make the team and compete in July in Kazan, Russia. The U.S Team will be announced July 1st.
Congrats to Adreian Payne! #Spartans
