Michigan State junior big man Adreian Payne’s offseason got off to a not-so good start. In late April, he was involved in a car accident in Ohio in which he spoke afterwards saying that he “should not be here.” Then he was dealing with a minor back issue after a failed alley-oop attempt during workouts in East Lansing. He has since said that “everything is good.”
Since the back issue and up until Midnight Madness in October, Payne has continued to improve his body and game in an effort to replace the production lost by Draymond Green who graduated in the spring. Diamond Leung of MLive.com watched Payne in the Moneyball Pro-Am Summer League in Lansing and said that Payne appears “fit, healthy and looked like he is ready for a breakout season.”
