Minnesota has shown during early non-conference play that the Big Ten is won’t be just a four team race with Indiana, Michigan, Ohio State and Michigan State. With early victories over Memphis, Stanford and Florida State, Minnesota looks poised to be that surprise team that will contend with the big guns. The Gophers feature a solid core in Rodney Williams (freakishly shown above), Trevor Mbakwe, Joe Coleman and Austin and Andre Hollins. Early signs point to No.21 Minnesota turning some heads during the year.

Rodney Williams’s monster put back dunk

The best dunker in college basketball is clearly Minnesota’s Rodney Williams. That was on display last night in Minnesota’s ACC/Big Ten Challenge game against Florida State. Off a Minnesota three pointer, Williams grab the rebound out of midair and through down a monster put back game. He is such a freak athlete. You will see him in future NBA dunk contests. Watch out for the...

Austin Hollins snares Snaer; Gophers go 3-1 in tropical gauntlet

The Gophers have certainly been through the ringer over the last week. They mercifully finished a string of games featuring Duke, Memphis, Stanford, and Florida State and showed perhaps their true 2012-13 colors, emerging 3-1 in the brutal four game stretch with their latest win over the Seminoles in a true road game in Tallahassee. In [...]
