Is it a shock to anyone in the world that a K-Tribe player won the Carolina Player of the Week Award? It happens every week now and Lonnie Chisenhall picked up his second of the year.

Another award for another minor leaguer though. This time TJ McFarland for the Captains, as he wins the SAL Pitcher of the Week Award for May 4th through the 10th.

In other Captain news, Jeremie Tice is on the Disabled List.

The Indians signed 31 year old Blaine Neal and assigned him to Columbus. More on the Neal signing in the update, but he takes the spot of Newsom who was optioned to Akron.

Jack Cassel was reactivated from Mahoning Valley and that was made possible with Stephen Head being placed on the Disabled List. The Columbus roster now sticks at the 24 limit.

COLUMBUS

Not a good day to be Jack Cassel though. Because let's be honest.

It was Cassel that gave up all the runs in a 9-1 beat down of the Clippers by Pawtucket.

Take a gander at this line.

5 Innings, !5 Hits, yes 15 with a !, 9 ER, 1 BB, 2 SO

He got destroyed.. He gave up runs in every inning he pitched, 2, 2, 2, 2, and 1. Jesus.

Every other pitcher managed to not get hurt. Melaon struck out the side in the eighth, although he gave up a hit and a walk, and Blaine Neal made a succesful debut in the ninth by pitching a scoreless frame.

The offense wasn't really heard from to begin with. Jamey Carroll playing at third for the Clippers had two of the four hits, including a double and a run scored.

Wes Hodges had an RBI double to score the lone run.

Rafael Perez Update: Perez went two innings, gave up three hits and two walks, while striking out two. It's progress but not sharpness.

AKRON

Two Jared Goedert errors set up the Bowie Baysox to defeat the Akron Aeros by a slim 3-1 margin.

Erik Stiller was a tough luck loser in his spot-starting role for the Aeros, going three and a third giving up just two hits and a walk, but three runs. However only one of those runs was earned.

Carlton Smith and Steven Wright combined for 5.2 innings of scoreless relief.

Nick Weglarz had just one hit, a double, but walked twice and knocked in the lone Aeros run.

Carlos Santana scored that run and had a hit and two walks himself.

KINSTON

A schedule off-day for the K-Tribe. They resume on Tuesday with a short three game road trip in Wilmington.

LAKE COUNTY

Lake County..

1 Run Game.

I might as well start off everything with the Captains like that.. Even non-games.

Because again that's what it was.. But the question always is, did they win it?

On Monday they did.

They actually got out-hit, but that doesn't matter as an Abner Abreu Home Run was the difference, good to see him get himself going, that is now his second on the year and they've both come recently.

Mike McGuire got the spot start, went five fabulous innings, giving up two hits, two walks, and striking out four.

Annillis Martinez went 2.2 scoreless, giving up the other two hits, while Steve Smith struck out two in his 1.1 innings to grab his fifth save.
