Duke drafts a lesson plan for Louisville

Few negative ramifications for the University of Louisville basketball team from a 76-71 loss to Duke in the fifth game of the season. A learning experience that could reap multiple dividends as the season progresses. No reason to hate Duke, that’s silly. Duke, as usual, has a team of exceptional players that will rarely beat themselves. U of L, on the other hand, was making so...

VCU falls 68-65 to No. 13 Missouri

VCU's renowned pressure defense is known as ''havoc,'' and it just needs a little more work this early in the season. The Rams started the Battle 4 Atlantis with an effective defense in a win over No. 19 Memphis but it just wasn't the same in a semifinal loss to No. 5 Duke and Saturday's 68-65 loss to No. 13 Missouri in the third-place game. ''...

Louisville 84 – Missouri 61: Cards Will Face Duke For Atlantis Hardware

Quite a turnaround from last night, huh? Louisville went from playing about as bad as they could last night against Northern Iowa, to putting on a very affective performance against No. 13 Missouri, cruising to a 84-61 victory. In no way was Louisville’s performance tonight flawless, but it was much better than what we saw last night. In my personal opinion, tonight’s game really...

No. 2 Louisville loses 76-71 to No. 5 Duke

Louisville didn't have its man in the middle to face Duke. Gorgui Dieng, one of the best shot blockers in the country, missed Saturday night's championship game of the Battle 4 Atlantis with a left wrist injury. After No. 5 Duke's 76-71 victory over the second-ranked Cardinals, coach Rick Pitino didn't know how long Dieng would be out or how serious the injury is...

No. 2 Louisville beats No. 13 Missouri 84-61

Missouri coach Frank Haith didn't need a stat sheet to see what cost his team a chance at beating the No. 2 team in the country. He had 23 reasons to know why the 13th-ranked Tigers lost 84-61 to Louisville on Friday night in the semifinals of the Battle 4 Atlantis. ''We shot well but it was the turnovers,'' he said. ''We just made some careless plays...

No. 2 Cards survive pesky Panthers

Louisville had this one wrapped up. The second-ranked Cardinals, despite playing a terrible first half, were leading Northern Iowa by 18 points with just under 12 minutes to play. Nobody told the Panthers about how it was supposed to end. They managed to get within a point with 2:06 left, but Louisville found a way to hang on for a 51-46 victory on Thursday night in the opening...

Duke Battles Louisville for Atlantis Title

In a game with a couple of potential Final Four contenders with a couple of Hall of Fame coaches there are just so many side stories that could play out when Duke takes on Louisville for the Battle 4 Atlantis title. Mason Plumlee has been Duke’s best player and will likely get a challenge againt Louisville. Mike Krzyzewski and Rick Pitino haven’t faced each other since...

Louisville passes Missouri test, Duke straight ahead

The celebrating should wait if that’s possible. At least there is no dancing in front of the bench. Duke straight ahead, with the brains to go with the brawn … and some would argue the close officiating calls. Just a minute, though, to treasure 40 full minutes of everything coming together for  Louisville’s in an 84-61 win over 13th-ranked Missouri. Russ Smith, Peyton Siva...
