Mariano Rivera is letting the Yankees and the world know that he's ready to walk after his contract expires this year if the team doesn't take care of him. Rivera is will be 37 at the end of his 10.5M contract...while he's been a superstar for the Yankees for the past decade, his age, and susceptibility to injuries has the front office worried.
There are already rumors going around that the Yanks are looking at K-Rod, which of course, can't sit well with Mo. In addition, given the money that the team has thrown around to the likes of Randy Johnson, Carl Pavano, and Kevin Brown, Rivera thinks he deserves some love.
Old or not, this guy is a stud on the mound, and given the lack of quality closers out there, I'd still want him around for at least another year or two.
