By the numbers, Nerlens Noel has won the defensive player of the month award from ESPN. Here’s what they said about him: Noel finished in the top 10 in both blocks (4.0 BPG) and steals (2.8 SPG), while also finishing in the top 25 among rebounders (9.7 RPG). He’s now on track to be the first player since Houston’s Bo Outlaw in 1992-93 to average 3.5 blocks and 2.5 steals. Jason King also placed Noel on his “X-Factor” list for conference play. King notes that Noel is not a prolific scorer and his 52.2% FT shooting leaves a lot to be desired. However, he’s become one of the most elite shot-blockers in the nation and is one of the main reasons why Kentucky is not being forgotten about in the race for the SEC crown. High praise from the world wide leader in sports about the possible #1 NBA Draft Pick. The one thing that nobody will ever question is Noel’s drive and motor. His potential is through the roof, and he’s only getting better.
