Mark L. Baer-US PRESSWIRE
The Indiana Hoosiers were able to score big recently when they landed No. 8 senior prospect Noah Vonleh, according to ESPN. The Hoosiers, who are currently the No. 1-ranked team in the nation, have one of the best frontcourt tandems with Christian Watford and Cody Zeller.
However, with both of them leaving next year for the NBA Draft, the IU will need a replacement. Vonleh can give them that and has the tools of being like Zeller for the Hoosiers. Vonleh committed right away when he went to the campus for an official visit with head coach Tom Crean.
“From Day One, Indiana has been recruiting me the hardest,” Vonleh said. “They were just letting me know how they could develop me into the player I want to be at the next level. Their academics are good, they’re the No. 1 team in the country and they’ve got another great class coming in next year.”
Vonleh was the fifth-highest prospect available in the Class of 2013 before he committed to IU. Vonleh will have a chance to star with the Hoosiers next year with Zeller and Watford leaving.
“They said next year I could come in and be one of the main guys,” Vonleh said. “They’re going to lose Christian Watford, and probably Zeller, so they want me to come in a be a big piece right away.”
Vonleh appeared at the campus on Friday during the team’s season-opening victory over Bryant. The fans were pleased to see him and are looking forward to him ball out next year.
“As soon as I walked out near the court they started chanting, ‘We want Noah,’ ” he said.
IU is back!

Noah Vonleh Commits to Indiana as Good Times Continue To Roll in Bloomington
While it will be hard for Indiana’s Tom Crean to land a recruit that will have a larger impact than Cody Zeller has had on the program in the last couple of years, he certainly came close Saturday night when Rivals’ #8-ranked 2013 recruit Noah Vonleh gave his verbal commitment to the Hoosiers.
The development of Cody Zeller at IU is a major selling point Tom Crean can give big...
No. 1 Indiana routs North Dakota St.
Cody Zeller kept No. 1 Indiana in control throughout the first half Monday night. Remy Abell gave the Hoosiers the other big scorer they needed in the second half, and it came just in time for the Hoosiers to fend off pesky North Dakota State 87-61.
Zeller finished with 22 points and nine rebounds, while Abell scored a career-high 14, including seven straight during the run that...
The Minute After: North Dakota State
Thoughts on a 87-61 win over the Bison:
I. It is early, and grand, bold proclamations about anything at this juncture are’t wise. Still, I’m willing to go out on a limb with this: These Hoosiers are playmakers. Go on down the line: Cody Zeller, Yogi Ferrell, Victor Oladipo, Christian Watford, Jordan Hulls, Will Sheehey, Remy Abell, Jeremy Hollowell — these cats can ball. Tougher...

Indiana secures elite 2013 recruiting class, adds Noah Vonleh
From what was considered a total rebuilding job upon taking the head coach position for the Indiana Hoosiers, Tom Crean has completely turned the program around and secured a second straight top-10 ranked national recruiting class, by taking a verbal commitment from 6-8 combo forward Noah Vonleh of New Hampton (NH). Vonleh made a weekend official [...]
Indiana, Louisville sit atop AP poll
Indiana is still a runaway No. 1 in The Associated Press college basketball poll and Louisville is again a solid second. Then come the changes, with Kentucky dropping five spots to eighth.
The Hoosiers (3-0) receive 46 first-place votes Monday from the 65-member national media panel. The Cardinals (5-0) get the other 19 No. 1 votes.
Ohio State and Michigan both move up one place...
No. 1 Indiana looks the part in win
Cody Zeller and Christian Watford gladly welcomed Bryant into the world of big-time college basketball Friday night.
It was ugly.
The 7-foot center and 6-9 forward combined for 33 points and 25 rebounds, overwhelming an undersized foe and leading No.1 Indiana to a 97-54 season-opening victory.
''One of the things is they had a huge size advantage and they have the best...
No. 1 Indiana 97, Bryant 54

Bryant (0-1) was led by Alex Francis with 15 points and Frankie Dobbs with 12 in its first game as a full-time Division I member - and...
Watford, Zeller named to Naismith Award watch list
Less than a week after being named to the preseason top 50 list for the John Wooden Award, Indiana senior Christian Watford and sophomore Cody Zeller find themselves on another preseason award watch.
The Naismith Award, given annually to the top player nationally in men’s basketball, announced Tuesday morning that Watford and Zeller are two of seven Big Ten players receiving early...
The Minute After: Bryant
Thoughts on a 97-54 win against the Bulldogs:
I. Indiana’s lack of frontcourt depth was not an issue in this one. Bryant didn’t have much size. And the size the Bulldogs did have was dominated by Cody Zeller. Both Andrew Scocca and Vlad Kondratyev fouled out, as neither had much of a chance once Zeller got the ball on the block and went to work. When Zeller went to the bench...

Cody Zeller and his teammates were not themselves Monday night.
The 7-foot center had an excuse - he was sick. His teammates looked like they caught the same bug.
Fortunately, the Hoosiers found a remedy at halftime.
Zeller, Remy Abell and Jeremy Hollowell turned the game with a second-half run that finally allowed No. 1 Indiana to pull away to an 87-61 victory over pesky North...
