West Virginia forward Kevin Noreen suffered a broken ankle Monday night against Pitt, Mountaineer head coach Bob Huggins revealed in his post-game press conference.
The injury happened around the 12 minute mark of the first half. While making an attempt to block a Panther shot, Noreen came down awkwardly on the ankle. He immediately left with the trainers to the locker room.
At the present time, it's uncertain how long the 'Eers will be without Noreen. It is likely, however, it could be a season-ending injury. Last year, he missed the majority of the season when he tore his ACL. He did receive a medical red-shirt.
On the season, he is averaging 2.2 points per game and 2.7 rebounds per game.
The injury leaves the Mountaineers even more short-handed in the front-court. Backup center Pat Forsythe is already out for the season with a back injury. That leaves junior college transfer, Dominique Rutledge, as the only other option amongst a depleted cast of big men.

Nothing More He Can Do
There are many West Virginia players who could have a fragile sense of confidence in the wake of the program’s first three-game losing streak in Bob Huggins’ tenure as head coach. One of them happens to be the Mountaineers’ biggest star.
