It seemed only fitting that Jordan Hulls would achieve a scoring milestone by knocking down a 3-pointer. It’s Hulls’ signature shot, after all, and a shot he’s been able to focus on even more this season with the addition of Yogi Ferrell. In Thursday night’s 99-45 win against Sam Houston State, Hulls knocked down an open 3 from the top of the key to record his 1,000th-point, becoming the 44th player in Indiana history to accomplish the feat. After Hulls made the shot, Indiana coach Tom Crean called a timeout, walked out onto the court, and held Hulls’ hand in the air as the Bloomington native received a standing ovation. Hulls was confused. “I had no idea why I was getting my hand raised because I had just shot a terrible shot,” Hulls said of a deep 3 he missed earlier. “I’m not really into my personal accolades as long as the team wins, but it’s a pretty cool club to be a part of.” Even Crean wasn’t entirely aware that Hulls only needed three more points to reach 1,000. “I knew he w

Film Sessions: Hulls’ dishes

On a night when he registered his 1,000th point in the cream and crimson, Jordan Hulls also tallied five assists — a few in impressive fashion. A look at three such dishes in the latest edition of Film Session: I. Hulls looks to get an entry pass into Cody Zeller: With nothing doing he swings it to Victor Oladipo. Zeller comes up from the post area and sets a ball screen for Oladipo...

Tom Crean eats gum after dropping it on floor

A lot of basketball coaches love chewing gum. Some of my fondest memories from college involve Jim Calhoun aggressively chewing on a piece of gum in an attempt to stop himself from chewing out a UConn player. Apparently Indiana coach Tom Crean is also a gum-chewer. In fact, chewing gum during games is so important to him that he’s willing to pop a piece in his mouth after dropping...

Indiana basketball coach Tom Crean eats gum after it falls on the court (Video)

Indiana Hoosiers head coach Tom Crean dropped some gum on the floor during Thursday's NCAA basketball game against Sam Houston State, but had absolutely no qualms about picking up the gum and putting it right back in his mouth. Crean explained himself on Twitter and used the opportunity to pander to the faithful Indiana fans: The gum I dropped tonight was a fresh piece...

Film Session: Zeller outside of the low post

Not Your Average Bear: Yogi Ferrell, Freshmen Co-Stars will have Indiana dancing well into March

The No. 1 ranked Indiana Hoosiers may have the nation’s best player in Sophomore superstar Cody Zeller, and may have a steller returning group including Jordan Hulls, Victor Oladipo, Will Sheehey, and Christian Watford, but a Freshman Point Guard named Yogi may be the missing puzzle piece that pushes them to a sixth banner. The [...] [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my...

The Minute After: Sam Houston State

Thoughts on a 99-45 win over the Bearkats: I. Indiana breezed through their first two regular season contests, but tonight was just another level. Unlike the first two wins that started a little slow, Indiana was all gas, no brakes from the start here and this thing reached blowout territory before the halftime buzzer even sounded. It was, to quote the great offensive cliché, a...
