After making a surprise move last year by forgoing the NBA Draft to stay for his sophomore season, Ohio State big man Jared Sullinger has announced that he will go pro.
The 6’9″ big man lost some weight the past season, and looks like he’ll most likely be playing the power forward position in the NBA. He averaged 17.5 points and 9.3 rebounds this season.
Sullinger stayed for his sophomore season as he wanted to win a championship for the Buckeyes. They came close, until they lost to Kansas as they made a big comeback in the fourth quarter.
“We knew he was going to be a special player. And to see him get these accolades he has received and won at the level he’s won at speaks volumes to the player he is, and that select category and only being a sophomore lets you know what a great player he is,” coach Thad Matta said.
Sullinger came as high as to possibly being the No. 1 pick in the draft last season. It looks like he’ll be a lottery pick come June.
