When Marcus Smart announced his intentions to return to the Oklahoma State Cowboys for a second season, it was the most shocking development heading into the NBA Draft. He was quite possibly a guaranteed top 5 pick, and even had a realistic shot at going #1 overall. After all, did anyone expect Anthony Bennett when the night started? It appears that Smart is putting an end to any future speculation on his intentions, before his sophomore year ever gets underway. While speaking with Yahoo!Sports, Smart essentially announced that he will not play in college beyond next season. “It’s safe to say that if, by the grace of God I’m healthy and everything, this will be my last year at Oklahoma State,” Smart said to Yahoo! Sports. “Nothing will change my mind on that. [Oklahoma State] understands. They didn’t figure I was coming back this year. They were just as surprised as everyone else.” “You can only go to college and be a college athlete once,” Smart said. “College is a great experience. This is where you have fun.
