One thought for these times of steroids and other performance enhancing drugs; it's nice to see NY Yankee future hall of famer Derek Jeter stay old school. And by that I mean getting worse as the years go by, naturally. Mr. Jeter's skills, especially in the field, have gone down significantly. Now if he was Barry Bonds he would still be several years away from becoming the best hitter in the history of the game. Instead Derek is playing as hard as ever but with diminishing results. It is in fact a sad day when I'm heartened by the fact that a player is obviously not cheating. What I would tell the youngsters going to the ballpark is simple; enjoy watching him while you can because he's starting to show that he won't be around forever, and more importantly, he won't extend his stay by becoming a cheat, fraud, disgrace, or whatever other word you can put in to describe all too many of his fellow players.
Now on to Rex Ryan, new head coach of the NY Jets. I don't normally like to do 2 NY things in one day, but if the story is there... Apparently the Jets are showing interest in Adam "Pacman" Jones. This after looking into disgraced Giant Plaxico Burress. Slow down Rexy, we all know you want to make a big splash but this is clearly not the way to go. Thinking that you will somehow be able to rope in these malcontent, and that's putting it kindly, players is ego driven. It's your first year as a first time head coach. You've made some tremendous moves thus far, but taking zero character jackasses is not the right thing to do at this point in the road. Maybe when you become Bill Parcells you'll be able to do it, but until then just go ahead and become a great coach with high quality guys, like Mark Sanchez.
