Pepperdine had No. 10 Gonzaga vulnerable at times but it did not have an answer for David Stockton. The reserve guard - and son of Naismith Hall of Famer John Stockton - helped the Bulldogs climb out of a deficit in the first half and provided another boost in the second half of Gonzaga's 78-62 victory in the West Coast Conference opener for both teams Thursday night. ''I think he was the difference-maker in the game,'' Pepperdine guard Lorne Jackson said. ''He came out with a lot of energy, got a few steals in the first half and he just got their offense running and going out in transition. ''I'm really frustrated because I thought we had them. We had the lead for the 11-, 12-minute mark. It's frustrating but we've got one more game up there and hopefully we'll see them in the conference tournament, so hopefully it's not over.''
