Phil Pressey has hired an agent and is entering the NBA Draft, foregoing his senior year at Missouri, the school confirmed today. Mizzou announces Phil Pressey will leave and declare for the draft. — Andy Katz (@ESPNAndyKatz) April 10, 2013 Pressey signed with Creative Arts Agency, which means he no longer has the option to change his mind. Phil Pressey The news is somewhat of a surprise for most Mizzou fans. Pressey had a down year at Mizzou this season after a spectacular sophomore season.  The point guard wowed with his court vision and passing game, but struggled greatly in clutch situations shooting the ball. Many expected that another year at Missouri would help Pressey improve his stock back to where it was at the beginning of the season, in the late first round. Currently, most NBA experts have Pressey going anywhere from the late second round to undrafted. Chad Ford, ESPN’s draft expert, has Pressey ranked as the No. 81 player overall and the No. 14 point guard. These projections would seem to indicate that Pressey would most likely end up undrafted. As for Missouri basketball, Pressey leaves some huge shoes to fill. Mizzou now loses its best player. Primary ball handling will most likely go to incoming transfer Jordan Clarkson and freshman Wes Clark. Earnest Ross and Jabari Brown will really have to step it up at the other guard spots, as they are the only returnees with playing experience at Missouri. The Tigers now have three open scholarships to fill, so don’t be surprised if they fill one of those spots before next season, whether through a transfer or another freshman. Finally, the departure of Pressey puts an end to the Mike Anderson era at Missouri. Pressey was the last player on the roster that Anderson recruited to come to Mizzou. This means that all players from here on out are Frank Haith’s. There are no excuses for Haith anymore, so it is up to him to bring the talent in for a successful future of Missouri basketball.
