For the fifth consecutive year, Louisville head coach Rick Pitino is looking to add someone to his staff. Kareem Richardson didn’t even make it all the way through his first year with the program before being offered a head coaching job. Richardson agreed to become the next head coach at the University of Missouri Kansas City last month. Pitino was a guest this morning on WKRD Sports Radio 790 and said that he plans on officially hiring his new assistant coach on Friday. He didn’t give too many hints on who that assistant would be, but Pitino did say that the new staff member is someone very familiar with the program and is a solid recruiter. Despite some Twitter rumors, it doesn’t sound like this is someone who was previously on the staff. Some have speculated that Walter McCarty could potentially rejoin the staff after a couple of seasons out of coaching, but I’ve heard that won’t be the case. I expect some news to leak at some point today. I’ll be sure to keep you posted.
