This post is part of The Arena Pulse's Player of the Night feature.

Each morning throughout the 2011-12 season, The Arena Pulse will select and name its "Player of the Night" from the previous evening's action.

UNC and Wisconsin battled on Wednesday night, in an ugly affair that ultimately bounced in the Tar Heels' favor.

Harrison Barnes helped fuel the victory, in a game that was tightly contested the whole way through. However, it was a late-night west coast battle unbenounced to the national audience that provide a thrilling and exciting finish.

UC-Santa Barbara's Orlando Johnson, one of the nation's top scorers, was at it again on Wednesday night, but it was a similar performance by a UNLV forward that helped spark victory in favor of the Rebels.

The winner of The Arena Pulse's Player of the Night (11/30):

Name: Mike Moser
School: UNLV
Class: Sophomore
Position: Forward

Stat Line: 34 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 block

Mike Moser is quietly making a name for himself.

The sophomore forward has been among the top performers this season, and Wednesday night was no different.

In eight games this season, Moser has notched five double-doubles, but his most recent performance may have also been his most important of the year.

Fresh off a victory over North Carolina, UNLV got all it could handle from the two-time defending champs in the Big West Conference.

Needing double-overtime, UNLV finally broke through with an advantage. The Rebels outscored UCSB 10-4 in the second overtime frame, securing a 94-88 victory to improve to 8-0 overall.

Moser lead the way for UNLV, finishing the game with 34 points and ten rebounds before fouling out.

The 6-foot-8 forward was highly efficient in the contest, finishing 4-for-4 from the free throw line, while also converting on 12-of-18 shots from the field.

UCSB's Orlando Johnson finished with 36 points and ten rebounds in his own right, but it was Moser and UNLV who pulled out the thrilling victory.

UNLV (8-0) will travel to Charles Koch Arena on Dec. 4 for another tough road test. The Runnin' Rebels will take on Wichita State at 4:00pm EST on Sunday.

Honorable Mention: Orlando Johnson (UC-Santa Barbara)- 36 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks

UNLV is down with OPP (Other Programs’ Players)

The first number anyone looks at after a basketball game is the score. During Feast Week, the Top 25 poll was rewritten in this fashion: UNLV 90 – North Carolina 80. Those numbers were stunning enough. North Carolina has been the swaggering bully atop the polls and in the minds of aficianados since the end of last season. Most casual fans would have pointed to Michigan State...
