This post is part of The Arena Pulse's Player of the Night feature.

Each morning throughout the 2011-12 season, The Arena Pulse will select and name its "Player of the Night" from the previous evening's action.

The final day of January saw a number of ranked teams in action, but the evening's top performance came from a Big 12 battle between Oklahoma State and Texas Tech.

Less than a week removed from knocking off Missouri, the Cowboys secured their second win in the past three games by dispatching Texas Tech on the road.

The winner of The Arena Pulse's Player of the Night (1/31):

Name: Markel Brown
School: Oklahoma State
Class: Sophomore
Position: Guard

Stat Line: 30 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 block

Oklahoma State cruised to an 80-63 victory on Tuesday night, thanks in large part to the production of sophomore Markel Brown.

Brown, a 6-foot-3 guard, went off on Tuesday night, finishing the game with a season-high 30 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Brown was also 3-of-6 from distance.

The sophomore had not scored more than 19 points in any game this season until Tuesday night, but his production will continue to be necessary as the Cowboys approach their biggest stretch of the Big 12 schedule.

In addition to his 30 points, Brown was also credited with seven rebounds and two assists.

Oklahoma State (11-11, 4-5) returns home to Gallagher-Iba Arena as the Cowboys prepare to host Baylor (19-2, 6-2) this Saturday. A red-hot Iowa State (16-6, 6-3) squad also heads to Stillwater early next week.
