This post is part of The Arena Pulse's Player of the Night feature.
Each morning throughout the 2011-12 season, The Arena Pulse will select and name its "Player of the Night" from the previous evening's action.
It's not every night in college basketball where you get to witness to a triple-double.
The nation's assist leader and one of the more budding point guards in the country was able to accomplish that task last night, earning the evening's top performance.
The winner of The Arena Pulse's Player of the Night (2/12):
Name: Scott Machado
School: Iona
Class: Senior
Position: Guard
Stat Line: 10 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists, 1 steal
Back on Friday night, conference leaders Iona and Loyola (MD) took the court in search of first place in the MAAC.
Loyola (MD) took the game, effectively going one game above the Gaels in the league standings.
On Sunday however, things once again knotted up atop the conference, as Iona dispatched Marist and Fairfield got the best of Loyola (MD).
Michael Glover had 25 points and 10 rebounds, while Lamont "MoMo" Jones chipped in with 23.
Iona secured an 83-74 win over Marist on Sunday, improving to 12-3 within the conference and despite the aforementioned numbers from two of the team's stars, it was point guard Scott Machado whose numbers seemingly stole the show.
Machado did a little bit of everything, finishing the contest with 11 assists, ten points, ten rebounds and a triple-double to hang his hat on.
With four games remaining in the regular season, including a key BracketBuster match-up on Saturday afternoon against Nevada, Iona is looking to hit its stride and excel into the postseason.
The Gaels still have work to do in their mission to win a regular season conference title, but the journey will continue on Wednesday, as Iona (20-6, 12-3) hits the road to Rider (11-16, 8-7) for a 7 p.m. (EST) tip.
