Casey Prather found out on Wednesday morning that he would be starting Florida’s Southeastern Conference opener. Fractured ribs for Erik Murphy and knee tendonitis for Will Yeguete pushed Prather into the starting lineup, and he saw it coming after Tuesday’s practice ended with both still hobbled. Prather scored the first six points of the game, sparking the Gators to take an 11-0 lead.

As the Florida Gators’ recruiting class continues to grow and gain notoriety, so does the statu8re of the class in terms of its ranking. What we have come to learn is that most of the prospects in the class are taking a lot of pride in their own recruiting class and that includes receiver Marqui Hawkins. Hawkins will officially visit later this month and is ready to be a Gator.

A young Florida roster has become even younger. The Gators were expecting senior outfielder Tyler Thompson to return and take the reigns as the center fielder, but he decided that he wouldn’t play out his final year of eligibility. Thompson elected to leave the Gators for personal reasons.
Erik Murphy has done it multiple times this season. When Florida head coach Billy Donovan lists him as questionable for a game, the senior forward puts together a strong performance. He did it again on Wednesday. Murphy was listed as doubtful on Monday with fractured ribs, but he fought through the pain to give the Gators 11 points while opening conference play with a 77-44 win over Georgia.
With the final release of the Scout300 player rankings Florida finds itself with a pretty full class and still in pursuit of quite a few big time players within the Scout300. The Gators currently stand with 10 prospects residing in the Scout300, a list of the top 300 players in the country and they are still on at least that many to fill out the class which stands at 25 commitments.
