Kevin Ware suffered one of the most horrific injuries ever seen on a basketball court, but just over one month after enduring a compound fracture in his leg, Louisville’s Kevin Ware is already on the road to recovery. According to WDRB, Ware was spotted taking jump shots inside the University of Louisville Yum! Center practice court Monday afternoon. Though the shots certainly did not come at anything near maximum effort, Eric Crawford reports that Ware did show a little bit of bounce. Over the weekend, Ware had reported himself on Twitter that he was out of his cast and “standing on my two feet on my own again.” An injury like Ware’s can take about six months to fully heal, and comes with additional mental hurdles as the player tries to cut and move at full speed again. Likewise, Ware’s status for the beginning of the college basketball season in November remains to be seen. “Kevin’s doing great,” Louisville coach Rick Pitino said. “It’s pretty amazing.”

Rick Pitino featured on bottle of Maker's Mark

Tweet   Louisville men’s basketball head coach Rick Pitino has carved out a pretty decent career for himself.  Pitino led the Cardinals to a national championship earlier this year, his second as a head coach and third for Louisville. He’s made a host of trips to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament, won SEC Tournament [...]

Louisville Basketball Looking To Build A Dynasty

The Louisville basketball program has been on top of the world for the last three months. At the college level, there is no higher achievement than cutting down the nets and claiming a national title. With that said, Rick Pitino and his team aren’t satisfied just yet. The returning players from last year’s team are hungry and ready to start a dynasty. Kevin Ware spoke to the...

How Will Rick Pitino Use His Available Scholarship?

Rick Pitino confirmed on Tuesday evening that center Zach Price will in fact transfer. Price’s departure puts Coach Pitino in a similar situation as last year. He will now have a vacant scholarship to use. At this point, it’s too early to tell how Pitino will use the available scholarship. Louisville added two players to their 2012 class in the month of June last season with...

Last month, Kentucky-based bourbon producer Maker’s Mark announced that it would pay tribute to Rick Pitino for leading the Louisville Cardinals men’s basketball team to a national title by releasing 12,600 bottles of its product bearing his image. On Tuesday, the time of the big press conference finally arrived and Coach Pitino even was on [...]The post Pitino, Maker’s Mark...

Here’s An Awkward Video Of Rick Pitino Dipping Maker’s Mark Bottles In Wax While Wearing An Apron

Yesterday we saw that Maker’s Mark made a commemorative bottle of its whisky dedicated to Rick Pitino, Louisville’s men’s basketball coach. Today, we get to see Pitino dipping the bottles in wax and signing them, all while wearing an apron. Weird. The whole experience just seems a little awkward to me, but hey, I’ve never been asked to dip anything in hot wax. Pitino also...

Rick Pitino On Zach Price: “I’d Say He Is Gone”

Rick Pitino met with the media on Tuesday afternoon to discuss the details of the new commemorative Makers Mark bottle. He also answered a few questions about the team. One of those questions was regarding the future of center Zach Price. Over the weekend, Price sent out a couple of surprising Tweets that were quickly deleted. “I would say he’s gone because our players don...

The Ultimate Gorgui Dieng Highlight Mix

There is still a part of me that hasn’t accepted that when the Louisville basketball team takes the floor for the first time next season, Gorgui Dieng won’t be with them. In my four years of covering the team, Dieng has single handedly the most beloved Cardinal. With back-to-back Final Four appearances and a national championship, I think it’s safe to say that Gorgs will go...

Louisville Hoops Getting It Done In The Classroom

One of the main topics at Rick Pitino’s press conference on Tuesday afternoon was the academic success from the Louisville men’s basketball program in recent years, particularly this past season.  Pitino’s team is one of three at the University of Louisville that is among the top 10 percent in their sport, per the APR data. Below is a release from the sports information department...

Nothing Says Success Like a Bourbon Bottle With Your Face On It, Right Rick Pitino?

There are certain things that just scream you've made it--insane contract, fancy sports car, insanely huge house with more bathrooms than you could ever need, trophy wife--the list could go on and on. When you are in Kentucky though there is one thing, one perk, one sign that truly says "I am here!" A commemorative bottle of bourbon--like Louisville head basketball...

Tom Crean Seems To Be Coming Around To The Idea Of Playing Louisville

I don’t think I’m the only one who would love to see an annual series between Louisville & Indiana in both basketball and football. Considering the schools are only a little over 100 miles apart and both would benefit from adding one another their schedule, it just makes sense. Tom Jurich and the University of Louisville have been attempting to add the Hoosiers to their schedule...

Louisville Reciever Eli Rogers Poised For A Big Junior Season

Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has plenty of weapons at the wide receiver position. Four different receivers caught more than 40 passes from Bridgewater last year. When it comes to spreading the ball around, I don’t think Teddy necessarily has a favorite target. However, junior Eli Rogers is the receiver that Bridgewater has the most chemistry with. Rogers and Bridgewater...
