Kevin Ware’s story is a roller coaster ride, to be sure. Ware was suspended from the Cardinals team last January, but was quickly reinstated by Coach Pitino. Of course, he really broke onto the scene during the NCAA Tournament when he tragically shattered his leg on national television. However, Ware took it all in stride and many people have been inspired by his positive attitude throughout the rehabilitation process. However, rumors have been swirling for nearly a week that Ware has suffered a setback in his comeback process — however, that setback has nothing to do with Ware physically. Per a rumor report from Kentucky Sports Radio’s Matt Jones: “A rumor spread (first on UL message boards, fan forums and Twitter) that Kevin Ware had been kicked off the UL basketball team due to multiple violations of the same team rule. While we initially dismissed the notion as mere fan chatter, after some digging, I (and others in the media) began to believe it was true. At some point over the past few weeks, the rumor goes, Ware was dismissed after the latest violation and the team was told he would no longer be with the team. The rumor spread online, in part, because team members told multiple people that Ware was no longer on the team. It then finally leaked to media at the end of last week. As of now, no member of the Louisville media has come out and reported the story, and my guess is that no one will. I spoke with UL spokesman Kenny Klein on Friday night, and he told me Ware is on the team now, but said he did not go as far as to say that no dismissal had ever occurred.” It’s easy to see that Jones doesn’t go as far to actually claim this to be true, and with nobody on record at the moment, it is all simply hearsay. The Louisville media (of course, not exactly friendly with KSR’s Jones) has been pretty adamant that Jones’ reporting of this has been pretty irresponsible: With this rumor now out and in the open, questions about the situation will definitely be asked to Pitino in the near future — it will be interesting to see what is really going on with one of college basketball’s biggest names.
