By Wayne Bumpass – Duke Blue Devils senior flex forward Ryan Kelly was named ACC Player of the Week for the second time this season today. In his first game back since suffering a foot injury against Clemson Jan. 8, Kelly scored a career-high 36 points (10-14 FG, 9-12 FT, 7-9 3Pt) against the No. 5 Miami Hurricanes and led No. 3 Duke to a 79-76 win Saturday night in Cameron Indoor Stadium. Not only did Duke’s senior forward finish with a career-high in points, but he also hit a career-high 10 field goals, a career-high seven three-pointers, led the Blue Devils in rebounds with seven and he scored 45.7 percent of the teams total points, which is the highest percentage by a single Duke player this season. Another interesting note is that Kelly didn’t practice with the team until Thursday and that was for only about 20 minutes. Where does this performance rank amongst other Duke legends? Kelly’s 36 points were most by a Blue Devil in an ACC game since J.J. Redick scored 40 against Virg...

He is averaging 13 points and five rebounds. Duke spokesman Jon Jackson said before the game that Kelly was set to play against the Hurricanes though it was not known whether he would start. Kelly returns with a performance for the ages

Credit: Duke Photography December 2, 1968.  That’s the date of the first game I ever saw in Cameron Indoor Stadium. Actually, it was Duke Indoor Stadium.  It wasn’t renamed for Eddie Cameron until 1972. I’ve seen over a thousand basketball games there, men’s games, women’s games, freshmen games, in-season tournament games, even a couple of NIT games back in 1981. I bring...

Predicting NCAA Basketball Conference Tournament Winners

[Continue Reading] So Duke looks poised to make a run in the ACC Tournament and lock down an NCAA number one seed…. or do they...

Kelly knocked down 10 of 14 shots -- including 7 of 9 3-pointers -- for the Blue Devils (25-4, 12-4 Atlantic...

Duke Morning F.I.S.T. – Return of the White Raven Edition

In case you were living under a rock or completely out of touch this past weekend, you missed the epic return of Ryan Kelly.  The buzz had begun after the loss to Virginia that he would make his return possibly against Miami.  Most felt he would be limited in his minutes as to not rush him back.  Coach K had other ideas.  Not only did Kelly start the game, but he played over...

#3 Duke 79 – #5 Miami 76 Highlights

The marquee matchup in the last half of the ACC season was Miami’s trip to Cameron Indoor Stadium for a rematch with Duke and after 40 minutes of action, it lived up to all the hype. The Blue Devils needed a win over the Hurricanes for a chance at a tie for the regular season title, to stay in line for a #1 seed, to stay undefeated at home and to lock in a Thursday bye in the ACC...

Kelly lifts No. 3 Duke past No. 5 Miami 79-76

Shane Larkin and fifth-ranked Miami stayed shot for shot with third-ranked Duke on its famously hostile home court for most of Saturday night. The Hurricanes just didn't execute well enough in the final minutes to earn a second straight win at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Larkin had a costly turnover and later missed one of Miami's desperate pair of 3-pointers for the tie on...

ACC Morning Linkfest 3/4

If there is one thing that the ACC has been consistent about, its extreme unpredictability (or is it predictability?).  A game after Virginia completely dominates Duke in Charlottesville, they go to Boston College and give away the game late.  Sounds familiar, right?  NC State did it after a big win over Duke.  Maryland did it after a big win over Duke.  Wake Forest did it...

Duke Morning F.I.S.T. – Undefeated at Cameron Edition

Duke completed it’s home schedule undefeated, the third time in four years opponents have been unable to win at Cameron.  Led by its three seniors, who combined for 52 points, they beat Virginia Tech 85-57.  Duke was down much of the first half as expected on Senior Night.  You know it would take time for them to get over the emotions of their last home game and play like they’re...

Kelly, Plumlee, Curry Enjoy Cameron Swan Song

Seniors are always the heart of a college basketball team and in an era when four-year players are a rarity, Duke enjoyed the pleasure of sending off three players in somewhat of a grand fashion. Duke’s three seniors went out like they spent most of their careers, as winners. It wasn’t always pretty but the Blue Devils took care of business putting away Virginia Tech late...

Miami proves plenty in defeat at Duke

DURHAM, NC -- Miami didn't beat Duke in Saturday's epic rematch, but the Hurricanes proved they are the best team in the ACC and are a legit threat to win the national championship. Miami is better not because of the margin differential in the team's two games against each other -- which is plus-24 for the Hurricanes -- nor are they better because they have a two-game...
