Leon Powell had 18 rebounds and 12 points and Southeast Missouri State closed the game with six straight points to defeat Austin Peay 65-60 Thursday night. Marcus Gilbert's layup with 1:36 remaining put the Redhawks (11-9, 6-2 Ohio Valley) ahead 61-60. Powell followed with a tip-in with 38 seconds left and Lucas Nutt closed it out with a pair of free throws with 21 seconds to go. Powell had nine offensive rebounds, and Southeast Missouri nearly doubled Austin Peay's rebound total, 50-26. Tyler Stone added 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Redhawks, who led by as many as 17 points in the first half. Austin Peay (8-14, 5-4), which had its five-game winning streak snapped, was led by Josh Terry with 18 points. The Governors stayed close despite the huge discrepancy in rebounds by taking advantage of 23 Redhawks turnovers and by shooting 20 of 27 from the free-throw line (Southeast Missouri was 14 for 26).
