Nerlens Noel racked up his 4th straight SEC Freshman of the week award today after averaging 10 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 blocks. The SEC may want to consider naming the award SEC Kentucky Freshman of the Week since the ‘Cats have claimed 7 such awards during the season. Noel’s 4th in a row makes him the first ‘Cat to win the award four straight times since John Wall in 2009-10.
Currently, Nerlens Noel has 3 straight double-double’s, blocked a shot in every game this year, and has grabbed at least six rebounds in each game this year. With 6 blocks last week, Nerlens Noel now has 103 blocks on the season. He is the only the 2nd ‘Cat to top the century mark for blocked shots during a season, the 1st was Anthony Davis last year. Noel has also put himself 3rd all-time in the SEC for blocked shots, trailing Davis and some guy named Shaquille O’Neal.
