As I’m sure most of you are aware, the press conferences for the 2013 Final Four got underway earlier this afternoon. All four coaches briefly spoke to the media about this weekend’s games.
Wichita State head coach Gregg Marshall is one of the two coaches, along with Michigan’s Jim Beilein, that has made the national semifinals for the first time. If you’re not a college basketball junky, Marshall is relatively an unknown. However, his name has been picking up some momentum, not only for getting his team to the Final Four, but also for allegedly being unlikeable.
Marshall’s Wichita State team won the West region as a nine seed in Los Angeles. USC and UCLA both had coaching jobs open last week while Marshall was in town pulling off the Cinderella story, but his name wasn’t mentioned for either job. A lot of folks suggested this was because he has a reputation of being unlikeable.
