Jerome Jones had 22 points, five boards and three steals to lead SIU Edwardsville over poor-shooting Austin Peay 66-53 Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference matchup. Kris Davis and Michael Messer added 10 apiece and Mark Yelovich came off the bench for eight points and eight rebounds. Travis Betran led Austin Peay with 15 points and Will Triggs had 10. SIU Edwardsville (6-9, 2-3) shot 44.8 percent (13 of 29) in the first half and made four 3s to take a 32-25 lead at the break. Austin Peay carved the deficit to 40-38 with 13:17 remaining but the Cougars used an 8-0 spurt to go back up by 10. Austin Peay (5-14, 1-4) shot 38.5 percent (20 of 52), its second-worst shooting performance of the season, and dropped to 0-11 when outshot by opponents. SIU Edwardsville shot 48 percent (25 of 52), its third-best shooting output this season.
