The Sixers went into the draft looking to upgrade the frontcourt and came out of the NBA 2011 Draft added size and power to their roster. With the Sixers first round pick #16, the 76ers selected power forward/center Nikola Vucevic. Vucevic is a 7'0" 240 lbs. big man that played college ball at USC for the Trojans and put up good numbers posting 17.1 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.4 blocks. He also shot the ball at 50.5%, a decent free throw shooter at 75.5% and showed some three point range hitting at 34.9%. Vucevic looks to be versatile and skilled. The Sixers second round pick at #50 was local product Lavoy Allen. Allen put up solid numbers scoring 11.5 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.8 blocks for the Temple Owls this past season. He leaves Temple as the All Time leading rebounder. The Sixers hope that both players are able to make a contribution and grow next season.
