Southern Methodist had 44 points come from bench players as the Mustangs dismantled undermanned, overmatched Dallas Christian 77-41 Thursday in Dallas.
SMU (7-4) used a 19-4 scoring run three minutes into the second half to bury a Dallas Christian (4-13) squad that was hanging tough coming out of halftime, trailing 27-23.
Dallas Christian's starters played all 40 minutes and ran out of gas, evidenced by a paltry 20.7 percent from the field in the second half compared to 33.3 percent in the first half.
SMU forward Robert Nyakundi led all scorers with 18 points on 7 for 10 shooting and hauled in six rebounds. Shawn Williams added 12 points for the Mustangs.
Dallas Christian, outscored 50-18 in the second half, was led in scoring by Josue Batres with 14 points. Dallas Christian managed only five assists in the game.
