Found March 23, 2009 on Storming the Floor:
I posted the UNC/LSU photos yesterday, so let's check out the second half of the NCAA Tournament double-bill in Greensboro, NC. I would have dearly loved to see a mid-major upset, but it was all BCS schools on Saturday. In-between games, our ACC correspondent Corn texted me that his girlfriend had left his Duke-loving butt at home and was sitting a few sections over from me. He said I'd notice because she had signs. And a big flag, apparently! She's completely hidden behind it. I've always enjoyed Bevo. And, as mentioned before, I photographed ALL of the mascots so my son could enjoy the part of March Madness he likes best. There's something for everyone. Dexter Pittman wanders out to intimidate the Blue Devil Mascot. I get the impression he'd set a pick on Coach K if he wandered out on the floor at the wrong time. Big Dexter scores despite the extreme overexposure overtaking the coliseum. The Longhorn team was always more effective with Dex in the game, even though he didn't score a ton. This UNC fan folded his puffy blue Stranger into a "Hook 'em" symbol, which I heartily enjoyed. One of the unison-chanting Duke oldsters I mentioned in Saturday's post. He was totally decked out - small blue megaphone around his neck, and a blue tea-towel to wave. Scheyer responds to Pittman's query "How my ass taste?" by making the Scheyerface to end all Scheyerfaces. Of course, everything tasted fine after Duke won the game. So, that was my tourney experience. I'll be watching the rest on TV, as usual. But it was nice to be in the building and feel the tension and see everything that was going on in the building. If anyone else is going to later rounds, feel free to contact us at stormingthefloor@gmail.com and we'll give you an STF Road Trip segment of your own.
