Ron Bracey scored 16 points and Tommy Brenton notched a double-double, leading Stony Brook to its first win of the season in a 93-39 rout of Division III Mount Ida College on Sunday.
Bryan Dougher had 15 points, Brenton scored 11 and pulled down 13 rebounds and Dave Coley also added 11 points for the Seawolves (1-1). Dallis Joyner grabbed 11 rebounds for Stony Brook.
The Seawolves led just 19-17 midway through the opening half, but Dougher connected on two 3-pointers and a layup to help spark a 25-4 run for a 20-point lead at the break. Stony Brook outscored Mount Ida, which counted the game as an exhibition, 49-15 in the second half to seal it.
Stony Brook shot 55.1 percent (38 of 69) compared to Mount Ida's 22.4 percent (13 of 58), and won the battle of the boards 57-27.
Keith Jones led Mount Ida with 14 points.
