The great thing is we won the game yeah, Always try to be positive. So far this season has not been quiet the same as the last two years, even though there is supposedly more talent. There is noticeably less offense and less excitement. There is less pressing, less turnovers, less exciting three point shots going in. Even less confidence we are going to win the game. In the game Saturday the only point I felt we had the game won was when we made a run with 5 minutes left to go in the game(and even then I thought the run might have been to early) The only time I see a resemblance of the old(er) Bruce Pearl teams is when They get the ball in transition which usually leads to a mini run. If they are not in transition the half court offense seems to be a steady diet of: bring the ball up easy set up 8 feet from the top of the key, pass left outside the 3-point arc, pass back to the middle, pass to the right of the 3-point arc pass back to the middle, then settle for a 3 pointer that 80% of the time is not going in. The recipe to beat the Vols right now is just like and don't let them get into transition make them shoot the 3 and then shoots lights out on your end (granted I know that what I have described will beat any team, however in the past I think Tenn. dictated whether they were going to be in transition, unlike this year) I think Maze played another good game, except free throws at the end. Chism played okay definitely not a Hopson Hopson Hopson....air ball on a free throw. WOW! I have said it all year when is Hopson going to come out of that shell and drive the ball, slash, cut, zig-zag, something, just give me anything. So far all he has done is make a few nice looking Three balls and a few wide open hot dog dunks, but thats it. At this point I would say that Woolridge is the top performing Freshman so far. Again Stephen Pearl played several minutes in a game that was not yet decided. I dont have a personal problem with him playing I just strongly believe that his talent is exposed everytime he is in the game. Yes he hustles and yes he practices hard and even if he gets in there and doesnt make any mistakes, he still get exposed by what he cant do on the offensive end. Several time this year he has become the point man or outlet in the transition and his abilities has cost a basket or two. Well I want to end on a positive so I think this team will continue to play better as a team and when that happens we could be in for a real surprise.
