Terence Jones scored 33 points and Chris Hawkins-Mast added 17 to lead Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to a 74-68 victory against Texas State on Wednesday night.
Myron Dempsey had 12 points for the Islanders (4-15, 3-4 Southland Conference), who ended the game on a 24-10 run. Hawkins-Mast collected 11 rebounds.
Matt Staff and Eddie Rios scored 18 points each and Vonn Jones and Brooks Ybarra 11 apiece for the Bobcats (8-11, 1-5).
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi overcame a 10-point second-half deficit to take a 69-68 lead on Hawkins-Mast's jumper with 1:51 remaining. Johnathan Jordan stole the ball from Jones and made two free throws to give the Islanders a three-point lead, and Texas State had two missed 3-point attempts and a turnover on its last three possessions.
Jones shot 9 of 18 from the field and 13 of 14 from the line for the most points by a Texas A&M-Corpus Christi player since Kevin Palmer had 35 against Texas-Arlington on March 12, 2009.
