Texas Tech travels to Tuscaloosa looking to remain unbeaten under new coach Tubby Smith. It's the Red Raiders' first road contest and represents a big step up in competition, at lest on paper. New starting point guard Robert Turner is coming off a tremendous performance against Northern Arizona, but will face All-SEC guard Trevor Releford in what should be an interesting matchup to watch.

Mike Leach called the Big 12 commissioner during a game to complain about officiating

Former Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell likely has a number of entertaining stories about Mike Leach from the four seasons he played under the fiery head coach. During a recent interview with RedRaiderSports.com’s Aaron Dickens, Harrell shared what has to be one of the best. Harrell claims Leach was once so furious about the officiating […]

Red Raiders Put on a Clinic

It hasn’t taken Tubby Smith long to make his mark on the Texas Tech basketball program. In only his second game as head coach—I’ve got to say it—the Red Raiders looked more impressive than they have in years. To a certain extent, that may not seem like a tremendous accomplishment. Tech hoops were a nightmare under Chris Walker, Billy Clyde Gillispie, and for a majority of...

Turner Adds Dynamic Element

Needless to say, Robert Turner seemed comfortable in his first two games as Texas Tech’s point guard. Monday, the junior had a strong showing, scoring 21 points off 8-for-11 shooting, including five 3-pointers, and leading the Red Raiders to an 88-68 win over Northern Arizona. The addition of Turner has added a dynamic element that could spark the Tech offense once stiffer competition arises.

Evans said he looks forward to being apart of the program but needs some more time before signing.

Notebook: Tech Weekly Media Luncheon

There is no getting around the fact Texas Tech has lost three consecutive games by a combined 51 points. In fact, it is getting worse every game as the Red Raiders first lost to Oklahoma by eight then Oklahoma State by 18 before last week's 23-point setback to Kansas State despite being favored at home. This week, Tech takes on No. 4 Baylor at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

Smith Set to Sign with Tech

Tubby Smith and the Red Raiders will gain a valuable player in three-star forward Zach Smith, who plans on signing his Letter of Intent to play for Texas Tech around 8 a.m. Wednesday. Smith, a 6-foot-8 small forward from Plano East. is expected be a great asset to the team next season. Smith is known for his highlight-reel dunks, the energy he brings to his team and the fans.
