The interim title has quickly become synonymous with the coaching world. All too frequently, we hear the following: "Coach X has been fired and replaced by Coach Y on an interim basis." It's almost as if we should just hire head coaches with the interim title already placed in. I mention all this because after the 49ers removed Mike Nolan after his 2-5 start for Mike Singletary, who has been mentioned in many coaching circles in his own right, it begs the question, does removing a head coach mid-season reap rewards or failure?
