Fresh off a loss at Indiana, the third-ranked Michigan Wolverines had to fight tooth and nail to hold off No. 10 Ohio State on Tuesday night in Ann Arbor. Thanks to 23 points and a game-saving block from Tim Hardaway Jr., the Wolverines secured a critical 76-74 victory. Hardaway led the way with 23 points, including six 3-points and five straight from downtown, plus swatted Aaron Craft’s potential game-tying layup in the closing seconds of OT. Trey Burke added 16 and eight assists, despite Craft’s pesky defense, while freshman Mitch McGary delivered 14 points, six boards and four steals off the bench. Michigan again played, more or less, without the services of usual starting center Jordan Morgan, who has been dealing with a sprained ankle. Morgan was able to play just four minutes Tuesday, finishing with no points and two rebounds. Nik Stauskas (11 points) and Glenn Robinson III (10) also hit double figures for Michigan, which avenged an earlier loss in Columbus. The Wolverines had a shot to win in regulation, but Burke’s step-back 3-pointer over DeShaun Thomas (17 points) rimmed out.
