Jordan Clarkson scored 21 points and Tulsa won its seventh straight game Saturday night, defeating Marshall 79-70. Steven Idlet was 10 for 10 from the free-throw line and finished with 16 points for the Golden Hurricane (14-9, 7-2 Conference USA), and Tim Peete added 14 points. Damier Pitts and DeAndre Kane led Marshall (14-9, 5-4) with 21 points apiece. Dennis Tinnon added 12 points and nine rebounds. Tulsa led 37-30 at halftime before the Thundering Herd opened the second half with nine straight points. The Hurricane took the lead for good with a pair of Idlet free throws at the 9:32 mark, and Clarkson added six straight points in the closing minutes to hold off Marshall. With Tulsa nursing a 71-67 lead, Clarkson hit a 3-pointer with 2:06 remaining, then followed a Marshall turnover with a traditional three-point play to put the Hurricane up 77-67 with 1:16 left in the game.
